     can’t soon enough

forget what’s
     immediately
     passed

the other
     bird might not get there at
     all

but that
     won’t change a thing

for the
     better perch has no way of knowing

since better
     perches are a dime dozen

and just
     noticing two birds passing through

the early
     August cherry trees

in search of
     better perches
