Pass the bottle…
“The fact that a believer is happier than a skeptic is no more to the point than the fact that a drunken man is happier than a sober one.”
—George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950)
Oh that Jack Handey
I wish I had a kryptonite cross, because then you could keep both Dracula and Superman away.
—Jack Handey (1949- )
Good design is hard…
That which is incapable of proof [a Designer] itself is no proof of anything else [design]…. We must prove design before we can infer a designer.
—Percy Bysshe Shelly (1792-1822)
De omnibus disputandum.
Only then…
Yeah, turn your cheek, turn your cheek
well, turn your other cheek
may your mercy manifest
Oh, when the hawk and the dove
flying circles ’round your love,
only then, will your house be blessed.

The main debate seems to be whether the Rapture occurs at the beginning of the Tribulation or the end. Personally, I believe the Rapture comes after the Seduction and during the Consummation, which of course is followed by the Resurrection and Repenetration.
—L. Jack Huberman (1954-)
The True Believer
The less justified a person is in claiming excellence for their own self, the more ready they are to claim all excellence for their nation, their religion, their race or their holy cause.

Doubtfester
[I am] inclined to think that not far from the invention of fire must rank the invention of doubt.

Miraculous…
The Christian religion not only was at first attended with miracles, but even at this day cannot be believed by any reasonable person without one.
—David Hume (1711-1776)
Yeah, what he said…
I’ll buy that for a dollar
It is useless to attempt to reason a man out of what he was never reasoned into.

A belief is not true because it is useful.

MSNBC and Fox are two sides of the same coin, you know like rewards and punishment, tools for divide et impera (divide and conquer). Combined with religion these tools are the last great forms of mind control. Been going on since Napoleon, Caesar, and even before then. With the advent of the Internet it has gotten oh so much easier. Oh, and I find it very revealing that this said “divide and conquer” strategy is blamed on the Devil in the Bible. I think it’s always been a case of shoot the messenger. Like Col. Jessep so famously said: “You can’t handle the truth.” Just my $.02, as always.
Thought for the day
Curtis Lowe…
On the day old Curtis died nobody came to pray
old preacher said some words and they chunked him in the clay
well he lived a lifetime playin the black man’s blues
and on the day he lost his life that’s all he had to lose.
To help you see better…
And the wind cries Mary…
Will the wind ever remember
The names it has blown in the past
And with his crutch, it’s old age, and it’s wisdom
It whispers no, this will be the last
And the wind cries Mary
Bron-Y-Aur Stomp
Yeah, ain’t but one thing to do
Spend my nat’ral life with you,
You’re the finest dog I knew, so fine.
When you’re old and your eyes are dim,
There ain’t no old Shep gonna happen again,
We’ll still go walking down country lanes,
I’ll sing the same old songs,
Hear me call your name.♫♪♫
